Dr. Mike Murphy considers his patients an extension of his family. Celebrating over three decades of dental excellence, Dr. Murphy adheres to the highest standards of patient care. He is excited to discuss your individual needs, answer your questions, address your concerns and make recommendations to help you achieve the best possible dental health outcome.
Licensed as a general dentist, Dr. Murphy focuses his practice on cosmetic dentistry and dental implants. He particularly enjoys working with porcelain veneers and no-prep porcelain Vivaneers. “Patients love it when we can make a beautiful smile for them without having to trim off any of their natural teeth,” Dr. Murphy shared.
Education
After graduating from Collinsville High School in Collinsville, Illinois, Dr. Murphy attended Southern Illinois University Edwardsville where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1977. He attended dental school at Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine in Alton, Illinois. In 1980 he received his Doctor of Dental Medicine.
Continuing Education
Dr. Murphy recently finished a one-and-a-half-year orthodontic course, learning some of the newest techniques in braces. He was credited with 86 hours of continuing education from this course. Dr. Murphy has been offering orthodontic treatment to his patients since 1981 and enjoys attending continuing education courses to learn the latest dental techniques.
Dr. Murphy has attended several Invisalign® courses, gaining knowledge in the diagnosis, application and implementation of Invisalign orthodontic treatment. Unlike conventional braces, which require bothersome metal brackets and wires, Invisalign is a virtually invisible alternative for straightening teeth. Dr. Murphy participated in the continuing education courses necessary to receive Invisalign I and II Certification.
Dr. Murphy has attended over 190 hours of continuing education focusing on the latest techniques and technology in implant dentistry. He recently attended 2 seminars on the technique of minimally invasive implant placement. With this technique, there is very little bleeding, normally no sutures are needed, and the patient has very little tenderness after the procedure.

Dr. Murphy is a member of the American Dental Association®, the St. Clair County Dental Society, the Illinois Dental Association and the International Association for Orthodontics. He’s proud to be an active part of the Metro East dental community.
Family and Free Time
Dr. Murphy was married in 1975 and he and his wife have two adult sons. When not spending time with his family, he enjoys hobbies that include dancing, fitness, reading and fishing. He has a new addition to his family, Hallie, a four-year-old Bengal cat. Hallie is now the center of attention at his home.
